BANANA NUT CHOCOLATE BREAD

Whether you like bananas or not the addition of chocolate chips and pecans makes this chocolate nut banana loaf a great tasting treat

Ingredients

⅓ cup [85ml] butter or margarine, softened.
¾ [190ml] cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup [250ml] mashed banana.
2 cups [500ml] all-purpose flour.
2½ tsp [2½ml] baking powder.
¼ tsp [1ml] baking soda
½ tsp [2½ml] salt
1 cup [250ml] chopped pecans (or walnuts)
½ cup [125ml] chocolate chips (or more if desired)
½ cup[125ml] buttermilk

To make the Nutty Banana Chocolate Bread:

Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C]

Cream together butter and sugar, until light and creamy, then mix in the egg and banana

In a seperate bowl sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt

Then mix the pecans [or walnuts] and chocolate chips into the flour mixture.

Add the flour/chocolate mixture to the mixture to cream mixture alternately with buttermilk and stir until just blended.

Pour chocolate batter into a greased and floured pan. 9x5x3
inches.

Bake for 65 minutes, or until bread tests done ie when a toothpick or skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean and dry.

Cool in plan for about 5 minutes, then turn out on a wire rack.

Cool completely before slicing to serve. Slices may be buttered although this isn't really necessary.
